About DigitME2 : Team


DigitME2 has a dedicated team working full time on the project, providing experience and expertise in IIOT, (Industrial Internet of Things,) data analytics, embedded software, vision systems and manufacturing systems.

The team are supported by academic and research staff at UCLan’s Engineering Innovation Centre.

On enquiry, our Business Development Officer will book in a visit, this can either be at our facility in Burnley, or if you wish at your manufacturing premises. The initial assessment will cover eligibility for the project and will give you an opportunity to explain your manufacturing process.


Dr Geoff Hall Project manager With extensive industrial and academic experience, Geoff oversees the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centre at UCLan Burnley Campus and is Project Manager for DigitME2. His role also covers the transfer of knowledge between UCLan academic staff and the DigitME2 team and is also involved in helping to define strategic direction of UClan’s digital manufacturing based research. Geoff supervises the DigitME2 Engineers ensuring their skills and knowledge are continually updated in line with new technologies and industrial practices. As part of the small team which saw the original DigitME project through its conception and development, Geoff played a key role in securing further funding for DigitME2 which has taken knowledge and experience from the original project and increased the level of technology for assists. Kelly Aitken Business Development Officer Kelly has over 18 years’ experience working with SMEs throughout Lancashire. The newest member of the team, Kelly recently joined the DigitME2 project in March 2020 after working in the education sector for 9 years, supporting SMEs with grants and funding. Kelly is responsible for the recruitment of SME’s to DigitME2 and developing relationships with businesses to build lasting links with the University in terms of future research and knowledge transfer. Joanne Smith Project Admin Joanne joined the original DigitME project in the early stages and continues to take care of all administration, ensuring all procedures and processes are compliant with the funders’ regulations. With over 20 years’ experience in similar roles in mainly manufacturing based companies, Joanne provides support to the DigitME2 team and is a further point of contact to SME’s involved with DigitME2.
